At the Language Learner Literature Advisory Board, we support the right to equal access to marriage and are deeply appalled that in 2008, TPRS Books (formerly Blaine Ray Workshops) donated $6,000 to Proposition 8 in California, which invalidated any marriage not “between a man and a woman.” These donations directly contributed to the creation of inequality on the basis of sexual orientation, and LLLAB denounces this harm done to LGBTQ+ people, and specifically youth and educators.
We will add this note to any reviews of books published by TPRS Books, so that readers are aware. We welcome learning and evidence of growth on the part of TPRS Books and its owners, beyond the initial response issued by the company and Blaine Ray.
