What books do you think LLLAB should review?

What books from this site do you think LLLAB should review?  What books would you like to recommend because they have a great message that promotes social justice?  What books are you concerned about and you’d like a second opinion because you wonder if they may actually be promoting harmful stereotypes?  Please submit your suggestions.

The purpose of LLLAB is to produce reviews that are useful to our audience of language teachers.  In the past, we have reviewed books selected randomly from a list of leveled novels for language classes compiled by Comprehensible Classroom, which was adapted from a list created by Karen Rowan and John Sifert.  As the available pool of language learner literature has grown significantly since our founding, it has become necessary to refine our selection process to align it more closely with our mission.

Our goal with this procedural change is to increase the number of reviews that will be immediately meaningful to our audience, in order to benefit as many teachers and readers as possible.  We also intend to continue to produce reviews that reflect the wide variety of books available, including those from smaller publishers and that currently have a limited audience.

To achieve this, we plan to shift from a fully random selection process to one that draws from data about what books teachers would like to see reviewed by LLLAB.  In the future, at least 50% of our reviews will continue to be selected at random.  In addition, up to 50% of our reviews will draw from the data generated from this form.

Thank you for taking the time to participate in this survey.

The mission of the Language Learner Literature Advisory Board (LLLAB) is to provide well-rounded feedback about Classroom Library material as it pertains to race, ethnicity, cultures, social class, gender, sexual orientation, gender expression, age, religion, family structure, neurodiversity, body types, abilities, and experiences. The board is composed of a diverse group of members that are well-advanced in their field and can provide trustworthy information to help dismantle social inequalities and support teachers and authors in developing and curating culturally-sustaining reading material. We are committed to (un)learning and welcome feedback and suggestions for honoring and validating everyone’s identities, experiences, and realities.
